  3. Structure of Language:Phonology Phoneme • basic sounds; the smallest unit in language ‘g’ and ‘o’ in ‘go’ • words are combinations of phonemes COGERITE vs. KLPUTNG • difficult learning other language’s phonemes • may be a critical period to learn phonemes
