  13. SUMMARIZE KEY CONTENT • Maryland was founded as a refuge for Roman Catholics and became known for religious freedom. • Carolina was a large colony that eventually was divided to form North Carolina and South Carolina.

  14. SUMMARIZE KEY CONTENT • Georgia was formed from the southern one-third of the Carolina Colony and was settled by debtors from England. • Virginia continued to grow, and its new capital, Williamsburg, became an important colonial city.
