  2. Learning Outcome • To produce an extended piece of writing which identifies, describes and explains the events of a volcanic eruption of Mount Etna • To show evidence of PEEL using as many correct geographical terms as possible

  3. Success Criteria • Level 3cba- Basic description of the location, causes and effects of the volcanic eruption. Few geography words used. (Point- Evidence) • Level 4cba- Sound description of the location with explanations offered for some of the causes and effects. Several geography words used. (Point- Evidence- Some Explain) • Level 5cba- Good detail given describing the location and explaining the causes and effects of the eruption. Some judgements made which show understanding of the impact of the eruption on the people and surrounding area. Many geography words used. (Point- Evidence- Lots of Explain) • Level 6cba- Excellent detail given describing the location and explaining the causes and effects of the eruption. Good judgements made which show a high level of understanding of the impact on the people and surrounding area both short term and long term. Also able to ask questions regarding to possible future actions. Full range of geography words. (Point- Evidence- Explain- Links)

  4. Key Ideas to be included • A description of where the volcano is located. Include a map. • A description and explanation of why the volcano is erupting. Include diagrams. • The effects the eruption is having on the surrounding area. Include images of damage done • An interview with some eyewitnesses who have viewed the events.

Homework -Task 1 • Complete Task 1 onto your Front Page design layout which includes: • Name of Newspaper (Choose app. Font/ Logo) • Date when eruption happened • Main heading to attract readers to your article • Description of where the volcano is located. Include a map. Make it look as much like a professional news report as possible.
