  3. NoDa Light Rail Station Area Planning Project Welcome to the Wikiplanning Demonstration Project. Here you will be able to view all of the content and activities for an actual project that was completed for the Charlotte, NC Planning Department. This project focused on one of Charlotte’s most intriguing neighborhoods, the North Davidson Arts District (NoDa), and how the coming of a proposed light rail station might bring change to that community. On this page, normally text would appear echoing the audio that plays, so that the hearing impaired (or those with computers without speakers) will not be left out. We hope you enjoy your tour, and if you have any questions about Wikiplanning or the services we supply, please contact us at info@wikiplanning.org. Thanks for your time. 10. Activity Menu Add a Comment: Name (optional) MESSAGE BOARD BLOG What opportunities or challenges do you think a light rail stop near 36th Street would bring to NoDa? Expanded services and business area, development of current industrial sites to mixed-use projects, better connection to surrounding communities (thru rail line and development around rail line) Posted by hgavagan@gmail.com at 8:02 AM MDT. We already have traffic and parking challenges. If people choose to park and ride, there needs to be accessible parking, so they do not consume the limited parking available for residents. Posted by jwwang76@gmail.com at 7:36 AM MDT I think a light rail stop would provide a great link between NoDa and the cultural and artistic resources at UNC Charlotte. I think a light rail station may pose difficulties in retaining the current "feel" of downtown NoDa as there will be increased pressure to develop (which, is good) but the development will need to be carefully planned and proper zoning will be paramount to our community retaining its unique character.
