  1. Has your family changed in any long term way?.. …from your grandfather/ grandmother… …from your great-grandfather/ mother…?? As you look at family photos down several generations, you can see how your family changed in appearance, but some important things did stay the same.. eg being smart or tall, really helped your family to live long & find a mate...so your family kept those genes & made sure to pass them on!! This is called evolution: the change in a family’s appearance over time to be more successful at life.

  2. Darwin & the Theory of Evolution • To define evolution • To explain how evolution happens • To evaluate if the theory of evolution is a problem for the Church

  3. Darwin said that change down families happens by two ways: first, children get a different mix of genes from their parents .Secondly, life decides who is fit enough to survive and have children of their own. Those who don’t have good genes, die. So only good genes get passed on. 2. Natural Selection: naturedecides who is fit enough to survive – those genes get passed down… not this one - couldn’t cope with the heat 1. Genes mix and change through sex The way that a mother and father’s genes combine means that every individual is unique, because they get a unique combination of genes. So everyone is different. Their difference also gets passed down in their children…so a family changes over time. not this one – too small and weak to survive predators Explain two ways how change down families happens. What sort of challenges in nature can change who survives? Give some examples. **Which change is more gradual: gene change or natural selection? Why?

  4. Watch the video. Then explain to your partner how come there are different kinds of animals in the world.Remember there are 2 ways it works by:the genes mixinglife is difficult and weeds out those who will from those who won’ survive From 1:04 to 3:22

  5. Write up 3 points for Darwin and 3 matching points from the Bible in your table. Summarise the main differences between Darwin’s theory and Creationist account of the Bible. **Which do you believe?

  6. Write up 3 points for Darwin and 3 matching points from the Bible in your table. Summarise2 main differences between Darwin’s theory and a Creationist/ Fundamentalist account of the Bible. **Which do you believe?

  7. 70% of all species of earth are thought to be descended from this insect eating mammal, after the dinosaurs died out – 65million years ago..including us!!

  8. Darwin Song of Natural Selection `Is it on your grandfather's or grandmother's side that you claim descent from the apes?'
