Decision of the Obama Administration in May of 2012 • Reach 100 million international visitors by 2021 • 62.3 million international visitors in 2011 • Goal: make America the number one destination in the world • 5 concrete steps in key areas to reach the goal: • Enable more efficient and secure travel to and within the US. Improve the Visa application process • Promote a welcoming message with help of Brand USA • Better cooperation with the private sector (help smaller businesses and non-English speaking visitors). • Coordinate federal policies and establish a national travel and tourism office. • Work with researchers to collect and analyze data on travel and tourism to make smart and strategic decisions.
