  4. Women’s Rights • In the 1830s and 1840s women suffered from restrictions • Society • Men • Family • Doctrine of “separate spheres” • Separates men and women • Men’s sphere= politics, economy, commerce and law • Women’s sphere= domestic life, child-rearing, housekeeping, religious education

  5. Goals of the Movement Conventions were held in the Northeast and the Midwest but never the south. Links to anti-slavery and temperance movement It promoted education rights and legal rights like voting
