  2. Objectives • The students will be able to identify community helpers. • The students will be able to describes the workers job. • The students will realize how important each job is in the community.

  3. Materials Needed • Fighting Fires by: Seymour Simon- book about the job of a firefighter. • Police officer as a guest speaker • Paper • Crayons • Puppet • Scissors • Glue

  4. Student Activities • The students will use puppets that they make to tell their parents what they have learned about community workers. • The students will draw a community helper and explain what their job is. • The students will take a field trip to a fire station, police station, or post office.

  5. Continued Activities • A community helper will come into the classroom and answer the student’s questions. • The librarian will come in the classroom and explain her job to the students.

  7. Firefighters Firefighters put out fires and help people when they are in car accidents.

  8. Police Officer Police Officers help people that are in trouble and keep us safe.

  9. Postal Worker Postal workers sort and deliver mail to us.

  10. Teacher Teachers help students learn how to read and write.

  11. President The President keeps the United States safe for everyone.

  12. Garbage Collector Garbage collectors pick up our trash so that we can keep the world clean.

  13. Dentist Dentists keep our teeth clean and cavity free.

  14. Librarian Librarians help us find books to feed our minds.

  15. Principal Principals keep the school running and the students safe.
