  2. Main Focus The Aztec calendar is the calendar system that was used by the Aztecs as well as other Pre-Columbian people like of central Mexico . It’s one of the Mesoamerican calendars, show the basic structure of calendars from throughout ancient Mesoamerican.

  3. Cardinal Directions • Each of the day signs has a similarity the four cardinal directions

  4. Similarities between Caledars • The calendar is based on the sun and has a 365 day calendar flow called xiuhpohualli and 260 day ritual called tonalpohualli.

  5. Tonatiuh • At the center of the Aztec calendar is the sun god tonatiuh.

  6. Calendars • The Aztecs used two different calendars one of the calendars measured time while the other calendar was used to make religious festivals.

  7. The Different Signs per day • The tonalpohualli has a flow of 260 days. Each day symbolizes a number from one to thirteen signs, and one of twenty day signs.

  8. Xiuhpohualli • Xiuhpohualli is the Aztec year count. One solar tear consists of 360 named days and 5 with no names. These nameless days are said to be unlucky and the years are put into 18 periods 20 days each. No one knows when the Aztec year starts but most people think it starts in February.

  9. The Cycles • Both the ceremonial calendars and the day calendars ran together and the in each day fell at the same time once every 52 years. Which makes 52 years a century for the Aztecs while it is a 100 year century for my culture.
