  2. Where is Mexico Located? • In North America • Northern Hemisphere • Atlantic Ocean on the east • Pacific Ocean on the west • Gulf of Mexico • Shaped like a fat fish hook • It has two mountain ranges • Some parts are covered by deserts • Tropical jungles cover other areas

  3. What is the climate in Mexico? • Dry deserts • 24 inches of rain a year • Jungles get 216 inches of rain each year • Some mountains are covered with snow all year around. un

  4. What do they wear in Mexico? • White shirts • Hats are called sombreros • Serapes are heavy wool blankets worn over the shoulders • Women wear cotton skirts and blouses decorated with beautiful colors

What Holidays does Mexico Celebrate? • Day of the Dead is celebrated from October 31- November 2 • During this special time, people remember loved ones who have died • They bake special bread, eat candy skeletons, have picnics in cemeteries, dance and light candles. Bands play and there are fireworks

  6. What Food do they Eat in Mexico? • Corn, stew, tortilla, frijoles (beans that are boiled, mashed, and then fried) • Hot red chili peppers • Atole(a drink made from corn) • Mole (sauce made from spices and chocolate) • Bananas • Tacos • Rice

  11. What is the Meaning of Mexico’s Flag? • Green means hope • White means purity • Red stands for the blood shed by heroes

  12. What is Life Like as a Kid in Mexico? • Help parents on farms • Older girls watch the younger kids while the parents work in the fields • They play soccer
