The film medium as an elusive, slippery, and ambivalent cultural space. Hong Kong will disappear as a subject not by being ignored but by being represented in the good old days. What is new and unique about the situation is always already gone, and we are left holding a handful of cliches, or a cluster of memories of what has never been.
