ADB Basics • The Asian Development Bank (ADB): • Multilateral development finance institution established in 1966 • Poverty reduction is overarching mandate • Provides financial and technical assistance • 67 members – 48 of which are from Asia and Pacific region • 2008-2010approved financing:$11 to $16 billion/year • ADB’s strategic agenda (Strategy 2020): • Inclusive economic growth • Environmentally sustainable growth (environment including climate change: one of five core areas of operations) • Regional integration
