  8. Political Features of the New England Region • New England has 6 states. • They are: • Maine • New Hampshire • Vermont • Massachusetts • Connecticut • Rhode Island

  9. Physical Features of the New England Region • Appalachian Mountains • Dominate the New England region • Include the White Mountains (a smaller mountains range in the Appalachians) • Within the White Mountain Range is Mount Washington. • Mount Washington is the highest point in New England.

Natural Resources & Economy • Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts are best known for service industries. • New England is well known for Maple Syrup, paper, and fish • New England is also known for tourism • Hartford Connecticut is known as an insurance center • Maine is known for harvesting trees from their huge forests this is a primary industry. • Two chief minerals found in New England are granite and marble. • Boston is known for publishing books. This is a secondary industry.
