  1. Warm-up How much, in grams, of each product is produced? 2 CaO + MnI4 MnO2 + 2 CaI2 105 grams of CaO are added to 75 grams of MnI4

  2. Stoichiometry:Percent Yields Unit Seven, Day Four Kimrey 15 November 2012

  3. Yield “Yield” is the amount of product obtained through a chemical reaction To determine yield, you must determine the limiting reactant and use information regarding that reactant to calculate information about the products

  4. Percent Yield The percent yield is used to show the effectiveness of a laboratory procedure After an experiment, percent yield is often calculated to determine how well the experiment went.

  5. Terms you need to know Theoretical yield- the yield you should get if everything went perfectly. Aka, the calculated yield from the balanced equation Actual yield-what you actually got in an experiment

  6. Example 51.0 grams of sodium bromide and excess chlorine gas are mixed. Using the chemical equation below, determine: Cl2 + NaBrNaCl + Br2 the theoretical yield of bromine the percent yield of bromine if 34.1 grams of bromine is recovered in lab.
