  2. A. Words used in Math Make sure you learn from Lord Krishna's Hindu Legend. • Addition + Sum • Substraction - Difference • Multiplication x Product • Division / quotient. >> TO DO INDIVIDUALLY: Exercise 1A's odd numbers (1,3,5,7,9,11).

  3. B. Index notation • Base number ^ index or exponent • Using your calculator • Negative base? Negative exponent? >> To do: Examples 5&6, Exercise 1B2: 1a,1e,1i,2a,2f

  4. C. Factors of positive integers. The factors of a positive integer are positive integers which divide exactly into it. Individual work: Find and copy definitions of: “prime”,”composite”,”commonfactor”,”HCF • Examples 7,8 and 9 (do & check) • Exercises 1C1 and 1C2 (odd numbers only) • Extra: Exercises 1C1 and 1C2 (even numbers) • Extra points: Investigation: Wheel factorisation

  5. D. Multiples of positive integers. GROUP WORK: Discuss: “The multiples of any whole number have that number as a factor” INDIVIDUAL WORK: Individual work: Find and copy definition of: “LCM”. Give examples • Example 10 (do & check) • Exercise 1D (odd numbers only) • Extra: Exercises 1D (even numbers) • Extra points: Presentation E (next lesson)
