  • preposition- A preposition is a word that tells the location or direction.
    • Location (on, under, in, between )
    • Direction (from, toward, to, about, across )

Example: The mouse is on the table.

The ball rolled across the playground.

A prepositional phrase is a group of words that begin with a preposition.

Prepositional phrases can be found at the beginning, the middle, or at the end of a sentence.

After the party finished we went home.

Mike went to the mountains yesterday afternoon.

The children swam in the water.

They expand sentences by adding details and examples. They answer questions such as where, what kind, which one, when, and how.
