  5. Usurper • Noun • A person who seizes control without legal authority • Often claiming power • The usurper took the throne and kingdom which once belonged to the rightful heir, his brother.

  6. Plight • Noun • A difficult situation or condition • It was a plight to cancel our flight at such short notice.

  7. Contemplative • Adjective • Devoted to thoughtful observation or meditation • While scratching his head and reading the sign, the contemplative traveler decided to find a hotel in this small village for the night.
