  13. Analysis We read the lyric. The title is We Are the World. It is a 1985 song written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie,

  14. produced and conducted by Quincy Jones

  15. and recorded by a supergroup of popular musicians billed as “USA for AFRICA”.

  16. The charity single was meant to raise funds to help famine relief efforts in Ethiopia.

  17. We read the text to understand the message. From the title we understood the song would probably invite people to come together and to build one world.

  18. The idea of coming together = allitteration WE –WORLD. “the world” and “we” coincide.

  19. When listening to the song the listener can understand that in the structure of the song there is a solo singer that is follow by a choir of people singing together.

  20. The choir is made up of lots of singers of different genresof music, from rock to blues.

  21. The most immediate message is one of unity, solidarity, support in order to leave better together in the world.

  22. Further suggestions from song: “must come together as one”, “it is time to lend a hand to life”, “we are all a part”, “we’ll make a brighter day”.

  23. Last but not least, the song ends with 2 subjects pronouns, significantly “you and me” wich means “us”.

  24. The idea of a wide community is expressed by the frequent use of long vowel sounds. The title “We Are The World” has not got any short vowel sound.

  25. Syntax adds to meaning the run-on line compells the singer to sing all the stanza together.
