  1. By Collin Solids Liquids & Gasses

  2. solids A solid is the first state of matter I am presenting today. Solids have tiny particles called atoms. The atoms in a solid are packed together so they cannot roam freely. Solids don’t take up the shape of its container besides sand and salt. Sand is a solid because it is microscopic pieces of rocks which are also solids. An example of a solid is a rock. If you put a round rock inside a cubed container, the rock will stay round instead of becoming cubed like its container. And some solids can float or sink. It depends how dense it is. If it is hollow and there were no holes it would possibly float . If it wasn’t hollow it would sink. If it was hollow but a hole was connecting to the hollow part, it would sink. Mainly because the water would get into the hollow part and will possibly sink it. Say you go home and sit at your desk. There is a pencil, a pen, a photo, a laptop and a shelve those are all examples of solids. That concludes my summary of solids.

  3. LIQUIDS Now I shall present the second state of matter; a liquid. A liquids atoms are not as close together as solids. Liquids atoms are slightly moving and can sort of roam around. A liquid will take the shape of its container. An example of a liquid is if you put it in a cubed container it will become cubed unlike most solids. Water does not have a definite shape but has a definite volume. Liquids can be frozen and turned into solids. Some liquids are drinkable such as water. Some liquids are extremely hazardous if you eat or drink them such as glue or liquid nitrogen. Liquids are dangerous if touched by electrical equipment such as hair driers. Liquids are important in the environment. It is so we can water plants, drink, and so we can prevent fires from starting. That concludes my summary on liquids.

  4. Gasses Last but not least, the final state of matter, gasses. A gas's atoms are separate and can roam freely. Some gasses can’t be seen such as methane gas and the air we breath. Some gasses are hazardous if you breathe them. Most gasses are chemicals. For the record, gasoline is not considered a gas. Gasoline is a liquid. When there are fires, smoke come out. Smoke is a gas. Gasses do not have a definite shape or volume. Gasses sometimes smell awful. Gasses take the shapes of its container. Gasses will disappear after a while. Gasses are all around us. We couldn’t live without gasses because we’ll have no oxygen. Natural gasses can cause explosion. That concludes my summary on gasses
