  2. Working in the Media Center • Check out books and materials • Put up books and materials • Help students find books and information

  3. Ask student for his/her number Enter number using numeric keypad Verify – check picture Check for damage, count tapes or CD’s Scan or type in book barcode Verify – check title If student does not know his/her number, type in the last name (or the first few letters) and click to select the correct name Checkout

  4. Check In • Scan barcode or type in # if it won’t scan • Lookat screen and verify correct book title and check in – don’t rely on “dings” and “dongs” • Check book for damage – count tapes or CD’s –if there is a problem write the patron name now & tell Mrs. McInnis or Mrs. Otto. • Mark out old due date • Place book “in order” on the return shelf or the repair shelf

  5. Verify • Checking the correctness of all you enter into the computer is a must! • Books must be checked out to the correct person and checked in correctly! • Otherwise – we might have book rage!

  6. Remember • Be helpful • Be polite • Keep personal information private!

  7. Place materials in the correct spot • Place books and other materials in the correct spot on the shelf. • If you are unsure where to place an item – please ask!

  8. Being correct& accurate is more important than being fast. Finishing tasks quickly is great but. . . Checking out books incorrectly causes double work later. • Putting books in the wrong place makes it hard for others to find them.

  9. Finished your Work? • Be sure all books are back on the shelf before you leave! • Then you are free to do homework or read. • Use free time to improve your computer skills.

  10. Fines Mrs. Otto & Mrs. McInnis will take care of fines!
