  2. Scholars hated Qin for burning their writings. What is censorship? Forbidding freedom of written or verbal expression Qin not only burned the books that caused people to question but also buried alive the authors of the books!!!

  3. China censors the world • China banned the book “Clinton Years” from distribution (book is put together at a Chinese bindery) • Reason for censoring book is because President Clinton is photographed with the Tibetan Buddhist leader, the Dalai Lama. • Is this fair?

  4. What happens in the United States to control written expression? • Amendment 1 (Bill of Rights) Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free speech thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble; and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

  5. So are these freedoms really guaranteed in the USA? WHAT JOHNNY CAN’T READ: • Black Beauty – cruelty to animals • Huckleberry Finn – crude word for African American Books are challenged for: curse words, violence, sex, occult Is this fair?
