IUJ History and Intro • Founded in 1982 by Japanese business/political leaders • MA Program only at that time • MBA added in 1989 • Development program added in 1995 • E-biz added in 2002 • Public Management program added in 2010 • Economics Program added in 2011 • 1year MBA for corporate sponsored students (no scholarships available) added in 2012 • 1year MA in Public Policy Program (no scholarships available) added in 2013 • Currently 9 different Masters programs, all taught in English • NO undergraduate or PhD program at this time

MA in International Development or Economics Students apply to IDP and choose which track, “Development” or “Economics” after the first term of study • monetary and fiscal policies, • international finance and trade, • health care, • environmental and natural resource management, • energy policy, and sustainable development • IMF work related skills development (Economics track) • Emphasis placed on the thesis Career preparation for: central banks, ministries of finance, development agencies), UNDP, World Bank, and ADB: roles in formulating development policies leading to improving the welfare of the developing world.

MA in Public Management • Public Administration and Management skills • Understanding of • Environmental damage, • public health, • e-governance, • education, • national and regional development, • welfare reform, and international security • management and economics from a multi-disciplinary study approach • Emphasis placed on the thesis Career preparations for: state and local governments, international institutions, NGOs, and public enterprises.

MA in Public Policy (1 year) • Develop fundamental knowledge and practical skills in international relations, international development or public management • Focuses on employees of public institutions and private enterprises • 2 years minimum work experience • Not eligible for scholarship support • Return to place of employment (in principle) • Course selection from other 3 MA programs
