  1. “Americans to forfeit $34.3 billion in vacation days”

  2. There's still a month to go before the end of the year, but most Americans will let their last remaining vacation days go unused. The average American worker earned 14 vacation days this year but will only take 12 of them. While two forfeited days of vacation may not seem like a lot, it can really add up. Altogether, Americans are giving up 226 million unused vacation days this year. The reason most workers say they chose to slave away at work rather than relax on a beach, is that they could not afford to travel. "Now that companies are doing more with less, people have a hard time taking vacation because there's so much work to do," said Jennie Dede. Plus, people worry that being out of the office might make them “next on the list to be let go.”

  3. In Other News On November 23, 2011, at approximately 6:15 PM, Yavapai County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a reported robbery at the Chevron Station in the 2700 block of Highway 69, Dewey-Humboldt. The Chevron employee stated that a female entered the mini-mart with her right hand concealed under her sweater, claiming she had a bomb, and demanding cash from the register. ... Just after 7:15 PM, deputies located (Andri) Jeffers at her home in the 2900 block of North Kings Highway West, Castle Canyon Mesa. Jeffers was confirmed as the suspect initially by the surveillance photo and also identified by the clerk. Jeffers admitted to her participation in the robbery. Deputies learned the item she held under her shirt was a toy penguin. She was arrested and booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center for one count of Attempted Robbery. More than 150 cars were disabled and countless others damaged after a tanker truck spilled sticky goo along nearly 40 miles on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Tuesday night, officials said. A leaking valve on the tanker, which was transporting liquid driveway sealant, caused black tar-like fluid to flood the highway, stopping motorists in their tracks as their wheels and undercarriages became mired in sludge.
