  1. Peer Helpers

  2. Peer Helpers The first and most important job of a Peer Helper is to be a good friend. Who will know better than you, the people in your grade who are good friends?

  3. Peer Helpers • Good Peer Helpers are good listeners. They are the people you can trust and talk to when you need someone to be there for you.

  4. Peer Helpers • Good Peer Helpers are able to keep things to themselves; they don’t gossip!

  5. While the most important job of a Peer Helper is being a good friend, they serve several roles in our school including organizing the weekly and monthly POPS drawings.

  6. Peer Helpers • Peer Helpers maintain the “Wall of Fame” bulletin board in the main hallway. They take the pictures, hang them, take them down and hand them out to people in them after their exposure.

  7. Peer Helpers • Peer Helpers take charge of “sunshine” cards and gifts for students who have surgery and are hospitalized overnight, are out of school for a week or more with an illness or experience a death in their immediate family.

  8. Peer Helpers • You may ask: Can I nominate myself? • Answer: “Yes, but please consider choosing a classmate or friend.”

  9. Peer Helpers • You may ask: “Can I nominate more than one person?” • Answer: “Yes, you may list as many people as you wish, but only the first one will count.”

  10. Peer Helpers • You may ask: “Do I have to do it if I am selected?” • Answer: No! It would be better if you said that you didn’t want to do it than not be an enthusiastic participant throughout the year. But, it is a compliment and you should feel proud of yourself!”

  11. Peer Helpers • You may ask: “Is this an election?” • Answer: “No, student nomination and teacher review is part of a selection process.”

  12. Peer Helpers • You may ask: “Is this slide show almost over?” • Answer: “Yes!”
