  3. Second Continental Congress The Second Continental Congress formed the Continental Army.

  4. Continental Army The Continental Army was formed of soldiers from all 13 colonies by the Second Continental Congress.

  5. Olive Branch Petition The Olive Branch Petition was a letter sent to King George III by the 2nd Cont. Congress in an attempt to avoid war.

  6. Declaration of Independence The Second Continental Congress appointed a committee of 5 men to write a Declaration of Independence from British Rule. Those five men were Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman.
