  1. Function Project By: Taylor Lynn Algebra 1 5th period

  2. Real World Problem • If Amanda and her 5 friends go to a High School football game, and each ticket cost $5.00 how much would her total cost be all together?

  3. The Equation • Y= 5x or F(x)= 5x • X= the number of friends going with Amanda. • Y= the total cost.

  4. Independent and Dependent • My independent variable is my x value which is the number of friends going. • My dependent variable is my y value which is the total cost. *Y depends on X * So the number of friends depends on how much the total cost is.

  6. Domain and Range • Domain- x value • Range- y value Domain= (1,2,3,4,5) Range= (5,10,15,20,25)

  7. Continuous • My problem is continuous! My data makes a straight line. • Amanda could have as many friends as she wants to go to the game and the price would be 5 more dollars.

  8. Is it a Function? • A function is if all of your x values are different. • My problem is a function because all of the X’s are different.

  10. The Real Answer • So, Amanda brought 5 friends with her to the football game. That’s 6 in all, so six multiplied by five would be $30.00 total.
