  2. Real World Problem • Mackenzie and her 3 friends are going to the mall to eat at chick-fil-A. Mackenzie’s mom is going to pay for everyone's food. How much money should Mackenzie's mom expect to pay if each meal costs around $8.25?

  3. The Equation • The equation to my problem is….. Y= 8.25x or f(x)= 8.25x • Y= the # of meals • X= the cost of each meal • (remember one of the meals is Mackenzie's!)

  4. Independent & Dependant • The independent variable is my x which is the number of meals. • The dependent variable is my y which is the total cost. • We know that yDepends on x • So the total cost Depends on the number of meals.

  6. Domain & Range Domain is the x values Range is the y values • So my domain is {1,2,3,4} • And my Range is {8.25,16.50,24.75, 33.00} R A DOMAIN G E

  7. Is it Continuous or Discrete? • Since my data contains only points and not a line, then it is a discrete graph. • You really can’t buy ½ of a meal you can only buy meals buy 1,2,3,4…… and so on.

  8. Is it a function??? • My x values do not repeat so Yes it is a Function!!!
