  8. Grading policy and make up work • Grading policy: • The grading policy is consistent throughout the entire math department at Dutchtown Middle School and was established according to the guidelines set forth in the county handbook. Grades will be calculated using the following percentages: • Content Practice (homework, classwork, tests, and projects) 85% Semester Exam 15% • Make-up Work: • Work is late if the student was in class, but failed to turn the assignment in on time. Late work will be penalized 10 points each day for the first three days. Within that nine-week period, the maximum grade available after three days will be 60.

  9. Infinite campus/grades • Henry County Schools provides parents and students access to grades via the Internet. Parents can access their code and Infinite Campus by going to the Self-help Web Access link on the school’s website. Students can get their access code by seeing any academic teacher and access Infinite Campus through the school’s website.

  10. materials • To be prepared for class, you will be expected to bring the following each day. • * Math Notebook (1½ - 2” View Binder, if possible). If you lose your notebook, you will be expected to replace it within one week. • * Pencil Pouch with the following: Pencils & covered pencil sharpener or extra lead, low odor dry erase marker, graph paper, colored pencils, glue sticks • * Agenda

  11. Class expectations • Be Positive – Listen, ask for help, and try your best. I’m here to help you SUCCEED! • Be Prepared – ALWAYS have your math notebook, agenda, and pencil(s). • Be Prompt – Your goal should be to be in your seat, doing your warm-up, when class begins. • Be Respectful - Treat others the way you would like to be treated. - Be quiet when others are speaking, this includes daily announcements and when the class is addressed via intercom. - Raise your hand and be recognized before speaking during class. • Be Responsible – Accept responsibility for your actions and strive for improvement.

  12. procedures • WHEN YOU ENTER CLASS: Be sure your pencil is sharpened or you have an adequate amount of lead for mechanical pencils. Begin working on the opening. • WORK DONE IN CLASS: Be sure your NAME is written on ALL work you turn in. This helps with recording your grades accurately. SHOW YOUR WORK!!! Your work must be visible in order to receive adequate feedback. • HOMEWORK: Homework will be assigned regularly in order for you to practice newly learned concepts. You will not be allowed to go to your locker to get your homework! Be prepared for class! • ABSENCE/MAKE-UP WORK: Make-up work should take approximately the same time as the time missed from class. It is your responsibility to make up missed work and turn it in. Check with a classmate when you return and see me if there’s a worksheet or test you missed.

  13. Class change and lunch • We will travel in a straight, quiet line to lunch. The purpose of this is to show respect for those classes still in session. • If you wish to purchase concessions during lunch, take your lunch tray or lunch from home with you, make your purchase, be seated, and remain seated until dismissed. • When you are dismissed from lunch, two students will clean the tables while the others line up against the cafeteria wall.

  14. Homework • Please return your syllabus and Remind paperwork sign tomorrow. Review today’s warm up in preparation for our quiz on Friday
