SIMILE Example: She was hot as the sun. Uses like or as to compare 2 unlike things.
HYPERBOLE Example: I'm so hungry I could eat a horse. Exaggerating to show strong feeling or effect.
Alliteration Example: The big, brown, bear bared to care. The repetition of the first consonant sound in words.
Metaphor Example: He is a fast cheetah. Two things are compared without using “like” or “as”.
Personification Example: The sun danced. Giving human traits to objects or ideas.
Onomatopoeia Example: The thunder “roared”. Words that represent the actual sound of something are words of onomatopoeia.
