  2. Metaphor (=) • A metaphor is defined as a direct comparison between two or more seemingly unrelated subjects • Example: My old car is a grouchy bear

  3. Simile (%) • A simile is a figure of speech in which the subject is compared to another subject. Frequently, similes are marked by use of the words like or as. • Example: I feel like a bug sitting under a magnifying glass.

  4. Analogy (a:b = c:d) • Analogy is process of transferring information from a particular subject to another particular subject. It can also refer to the relation between the source and the target. • Example: My fingers are to my hand what my toes are to my foot
