India post is the country’s largest savings bank with deposits of more than Rs.3,74,119 crore i.e. 16% of the total deposit of banking sector • More than 1 million people daily visit to post offices • India post –symbol of Government authority with extensive link to rural network than any other Government department. Can play a crucial rule in financial inclusion of rural sector

  31. SOCIAL COMMITMENT • 72% of the Indian population is in rural areas and 26% lives below poverty line. • 89.81% of the post offices are in rural areas. India post is actively involved in MGNREGS which is one of the most important povert alleviation programme of Government of India. • A Post office serves 21.21 Sq. km. covering 7176 people on an average

  36. HISTORY(from Pigeon to Plane) • Use of pigeon in the reign of Mughal Raj • Messengers were used by many kingdoms to convey message: Runners (carrying spear with bell) • India Post the oldest organization came into existence in 1854 i.e. 156 years old
