  1. Welcome Parents of the Freshman Class of 2013

  2. Orientation to Registration • Guyan Valley Counselors will be meeting with students individually to discuss courses available at the high school. • Lincoln County High School Counselors will be scheduling a visit to Guyan Valley Middle School to pre-register students for 9th grade classes.

  3. ISTP Forms Individual Student Transition Plan (2 year plan) • GV Counselors will complete this form with each student individually. • A parent signature is required. • The completed form will assist high school counselors with the registration process.

  4. The following information will be reviewed with your child: • Career Cluster and Pathway choices • Freshmen required courses • Elective courses available to freshmen • Requirements for graduation

  5. CAREER CLUSTERS & PATHWAYS Career Clusters Pathways Business & Marketing Human Services Health Agriculture, Science & Natural Resources Engineering & Technology Fine Arts & Humanities • Professional Planning to attend a 4 year college or beyond • Skilled Planning to attend a 2 year community college, technical school, military, or immediately enter into the workforce

Requirements for Graduation 2017 Professional Pathway Skilled Pathway • 4 English • 4 Science (3 labs) • 4 Social Studies • 4 Math • 1 Fine Art • 1 Health • 1 Physical Education • 2 foreign language (same) • 1 credit in career concentration • 3 hrs. work based learning • 24 total credits • 4 English • 3 Science (no lab req.) • 4 Social Studies • 4 Math • 1 Fine Art • 1 Health • 1 Physical Education • 4 courses related to selected concentration • 3 hrs. work based learning • 24 total credits

FRESHMAN REQUIRED COURSES • English 9 (H) • Physical Science (H) • World History (H) • Math I • Health • Physical Education Honors Requirements • WESTEST 2 scores that show Above Mastery or Distinguished • And/or ACT Explore scores that show student is academically on track for college level courses • Current Teacher recommendation • Parent request via written letter to student’s counselor for review
