  2. TESTIMONIALS

  3. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Realtor-Green designation class: “I cannot in all honesty say that it has helped my business grow, however it has certainly helped me to assist buyers in choosing a home with Green qualities. Also I often suggest to buyers and sellers ways that they may be able to make a home more energy efficient. So in the long run, it has helped my business and identified me as an agent who is informed.” - Paula England, Broker Century 21, Zaytoun-Raines, New Bern

  4. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Realtor-Green designation class: “I have been able to share info with several buyers...I ordered 50 copies of the GREEN booklet and mailed them out...I did receive a couple of phone calls from recipients.” - Wanda Dwyer, Broker Jennifer Jenkins Realty, Greenville

  5. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment “The weatherization class I attended taught me quite a bit, and I would recommend it not just to people seeking jobs in the field, but also to anyone interested in increasing their homes efficiency and cutting their utility bill. I used the skills I learned to air seal my home and I have seen a 25% decrease in my bill over the past 8 months or so. I have also air sealed the homes of 3 neighbors, for profit, and they all have realized savings. My certification also is a positive asset to my resume, and has allowed me to broaden my job search area. The understanding of how a house works as a whole helps me to consider a wider impact when I take on any remodel or home improvement project as well. I hope you can continue to offer the program. Thanks,” - Jerome RubasSelf Employed / Unemployed

  6. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The BPI Building Analyst and Multi-Family Class: “…that class (BA) led directly to my working on the North Carolina weatherization program. We haven't worked in 6 months, but it is scheduled to start up again sometime in the near future. It looks like it should go on for another 3 or 4 of months between now and March of 2013. It has also provided a much different understanding of the functioning of a building as a system that I think has been extremely useful. It (Multi-Family) became an added requirement for the next round of Auditing for the State weatherization program.” - Steven KrpataUnemployed

  7. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Duct Leakage Class: “This allowed me to acquire new duct testing skills that have become required for testing jobs I have scheduled, which helps me retain future employment” - Steven KrpataUnemployed

  8. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Realtor-Green designation class “I did learn lots of great information, increased my knowledge base - both of local AND global resources, and did actually secure not only a new confidence but also some new business (Greenville's first green affordable housing "greenhabber" called me soon after taking the course). I feel like that I can not only talk the talk but walk the walk with him and others a lot better than ever before. Thank you SO much for bringing this class and opportunity to Realtors in this area.” - Dede Carney, Broker Keller Williams Realty, Greenville

  9. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Realtor-Green designation class “Great program that allowed myself and many others to take a class they may not have been able to take otherwise.” - Rhonda Dwyer, Broker Jennifer Jenkins Realty, Greenville

  10. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Realtor-Green designation class “Very good course that allowed me to earn an additional designation and give me more credibility in my work life. Provide me new marketing ideas which I have seized.” - Diane M. Edwards, Broker Coldwell Banker Coastal, Belhaven

  11. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Building Analyst & Duct Leakage class: “The training I received has helped me in several ways, including further consolidating years of information and methodology that I have been exposed to and used, in some cases resulting in new or modified procedures. Because of my unique position at Greenville Utilities, this has benefitted many of our customers, the general public, at no cost to them. Also, it has helped me to know some of the other people that have gone through the training and what that training consists of, in order to help our customers engage in energy conservation measures more. I certainly hope you are successful in your efforts to continue providing this much needed service to our community.” - Dan Oglesby, Energy Services Auditor Greenville Utilities

  12. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Realtor-Green designation class: “I have prospered from the class. I have a radio talk show and earned a spot with a local company called Green Power of North Carolina where I am a Sales and Marketing Manager. I have also been able to offer more green technology opportunities to my clients as a Realtor!” - Jody Tingen, Broker Prudential Prime Properties, Greenville

  13. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Realtor-Green designation class: “This class was simply excellent! I learned so much and the instructor was awesome! I sincerely hope more classes will be offered in the future!” - Paula England, Broker Century 21 Zaytoun Raines, New Bern

  14. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Realtor-Green designation class: “The “Green Class” I attended was an eye-opener for me. I very much enjoyed the whole three day class. Thank you for providing this free education!” - Rita Vick, Broker Connect Realty, Nashville

  15. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Realtor-Green designation class: “Great class. I regularly use the information I learned when talking to customers and when working with builders. Very helpful. I'm able to offer suggestions for cost-saving benefits to customers and have a better working understanding of green practices that are more common in other areas.” Kari Hammond, Broker River Dunes Realty, Oriental

  16. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Building Analyst class: “This class (BPI Building Analyst) was extremely helpful and I would recommend it to all my colleagues in the construction industry.” Seth Shoneman Martin Community Action & Carolina Greenworks, Greenville

  17. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Building Analyst class: It’s an excellent class that should be required for anyone in the field.” Jeff Mathis Jeffrey Mathis Inspection Service, Greenville

  18. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Building Analyst class: “I felt the class was very worthwhile, mainly in increasing my confidence a bit, but also having a national certification is great. My biggest hindrance from using it right now is ability to get equipment I can use. The audit and education work I want to do can be done without a blower door but having blower door and infrared camera would make for a much better end result. The class really did show me I can offer some good analysis to my customers, as far as energy load, what the parameters a house should be showing etc. and can clearly explain cost effectiveness and rate of return. Without equipment I can not take advantage of offering my services to local builders either.” . Amanda Norwood Lavigne Appraisals, New Bern

  19. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Realtor-Green designation class: “Two weeks after completing the course I viewed a home that used solar panels to provide electricity and that had energy efficient appliances and heating and air units, among other green features throughout. It was interesting to see many of the topics discussed in the course being put to use in a local home. I felt I was informed and educated having just earned my GREEN designation, that I was able to ask appropriate questions and gain additional information for my buyers.” - Karen Hanley, Broker Century 21 Elite Properties, Greenville

  20. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Building Analyst class: “This class has offered me the chance to expand my knowledge base of buildings as a system and the abilities and responsibilities of being a Building Analyst! This class has offered valuable energy analysis information. The ability to effectively show where buildings show deficiencies through proper testing procedures and to offer a viable solution to fix the issue(s) with supporting data is a major factor in home owners understanding the overall aspects of buildings as a system” - Les Everett, Chief Building Inspector City of Greenville

  21. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Building Analyst class: “I can say after becoming BPI certified that in the nearly 20 years I have been working in the trades, 8 of which have been owning my own company that I have never had any information change my construction process as drastically nor as quickly as the information you provided. I can not thank you enough for your personal invitation to your BPI classes, you have changed the way I look at homes from the moment I walk in the door.” - Michael Jahn C. Michael Construction

  22. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Building Analyst class: The class gave me a better understanding of Thermal envelope. It also increased my knowledge of the tests that are performed to get a final inspection on new homes.” Anne B Massey AB Massey Construction, Greenville

  23. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment The Duct Leakage class: “This course give(s) me important information about how to test duct work and what to look for if someone else is doing the testing.” Albert Holloman HollomanConstruction, Greenville

  24. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment IGSHPA Geothermal class: This was a class covering a topic which is hard to get training for.” William Thomas Edwards II Air Care Service Company, Washington

  25. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment IGSHPA Geothermal class: “The class was very helpful in the regards of training on a geothermal install. I have had one customer sense (since) the class look into installing one and backed out due to cost. So not much impacted to us yet. I do believe it will become more frequent as energy costs rise and the economy picks up.” Brock Coltrain Advanced Mechanical, Jamesville

  26. Systemic Change: Understanding/Behavior/Employment • The Realtor-Green designation class “It was excellent education to become familiar with the language of Green. I now understand how to interpret labels, names, industry designations, and other green-related items. In addition, I feel more competent as a professional discussing these items with potential buyers or sellers, and builders. A huge benefit was the sharing of resources – like GUC’s Andy Yakim, and others was very helpful. I now know where to look to find definitions, additional information, or resources for my clients who have questions. Being the “go to” person that can find answers and connect the dots for clients is my value as a realtor, and I believe that this class helped me in that regard.” - Laura Maser, Broker Century 21 The Realty Group, Greenville
