  1. Figurative Language Personification-An animal given human-like qualities or an object given life-like qualities. Ex: The boat hugged the shore

  2. Alliteration Alliteration-Consonant sounds repeated at the beginning of words. Ex: When Sally seems to sit somewhere separate from Sonia.

  3. Assonance • Assonance-Repeated consonant sounds in a line or line of poetry.

  4. Hyperbole • Hyperbole-Exaggeration often used for emphasis. • Ex: I’m so hungry I can eat a hours
