  4. "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” v.14 "Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.” v. 15 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” v. 16

  6. Christians reflect The light of Jesus To the World

  7. What it means to let your light shine “You are the Light of the world” • John 8:12 “I am the light of the world.” • We reflect the light of Jesus • Eph. 5:8 “Walk as children of light” • Salt operates internally • Light operates externally

  8. “A city that is set on an hill cannot be hidden” Visible “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand.” “and it gives light to all who are in the house.”

  9. “Let your light so shine before men” To benefit others “That they may see your good works.” “went about doing good”. Acts 10:38 “And glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

  10. What it means to let your light shine • We reflect the light of Christ • Christians are visible • We do not hide our influence

  11. How you let your light shine Before Men “I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.” John 17:15 No oxygen Light goes out

  12. Silently Not to boast Matthew 6:2 (ESV) “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. “

  13. Naturally Light expels darkness Christians are a good example • Attend • Teaches • Good works • Gives liberally

  14. Without Partiality A candle will shine just as bright in a cabin as it will in a castle. If you are not a Christian everywhere, then you are not a Christian anywhere.

  15. With a Sacrifice Energy is being consumed It will Cost us: • Time • Energy • Money Rom. 12:1 “living sacrifice”

  16. Why Let Your Light Shine ? To Help Others Matt.5:16 “Let your light so shine before men” Truth will purify - John 15:3 “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels” 2 Cor. 4:7

  17. Why Let Your Light Shine ? To Glorify God Not to give Christians the glory Our influence should cause others to glorify God.
