VISION • Communication, Relationships, Education • Leadership to encourage men and young men • Promoting role modeling behaviors at local levels • Facilitating child raising and family living skills • Promoting responsibility and family life • Encouraging sharing of knowledge • Identifying strong support systems • Supporting faith, hope and inspiration • Facilitating recreation, awareness and involvement

OUTCOMES • Strengthen men-youth relationships • Improved social conditions • Lower crime rate, cost of detention and incarceration, child abuse rates, domestic violence rates, single moms, drug use • Superior responsibility for the role of men in society • Enhanced social/intellectual capital • Reduced number of children in foster care • Increased number of men in community leadership roles • Improved education results • Stronger and responsible men

  6. STRATEGIES • Solidify “THE A-TEAM” (leadership team). Identify INDIVIDUAL AREAS of EXPERTISE • Develop a MISSION and VISION statements to drive activities of the commission and VALUES STATEMENTS to guide the work. • Establish THE COMMISSION, including NAME and STRUCTURE (roles and responsibilities)

  7. STRATEGIES • Plan THE CONFERENCE (to include practical learning, faith and hope, social responsibility, breakout sessions, counseling, and FUN) • Build THE MEMBERSHIP. Identify TARGET AUDIENCE.

  9. In order to build a better world by building better men, the Southwest Louisiana Men’s Commission will foster, facilitate, and promote diversity, fellowship, and fatherhood within our community.
