  2. NEEDS ASSESSMENT The medical staff needs an application that is easy to use, and will enable creativity with minimal technical support.

  3. NEEDS ASSESSMENT CONTINUE: The proposed solution is to create a step-by-step user friendly training module that will introduce the different features on how to use SoftChalk LessonBuilder 5.

  4. INSTRUCTIONAL GOAL After completing this training, the medical professionals will be able to use SoftChalk LessonBuilder 5 to create professional e-learning resources.

  5. PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE • Using the SoftChalk LessonBuilder 5, medical professionals will learn how to design a web-based instructional module without any technical support.

  6. PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE CONTINUE: Using SoftChalk LessonBuilder 5, students will create online quizzes that utilize different types of questions, including multiple choice, True/False, and Short answer questions, without assistance and with 100% accuracy.

  7. PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE CONTINUE: Using SoftChalk LessonBuilder 5, students will create online activities that employ different types of activities, including Labeling, DragNDrop, and Crossword, without assistance and with 100% accuracy.

  8. ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING OUTCOMES

  9. LEARNER CHARACTERISTICS My target audiences are medical professionals who are from different ethnicity groups, for example, Canada, Philippines, Mexico, and United States of America. They all speak and read English and some are bilingual. Their age range is between 30-65 years. My target audiences are mostly female nurses, and a few male nurses. They have basic computer knowledge. They are able to use the hospital’s computer program to chart their patients, and navigate the intranet which is the hospital’s personal internet service.

  10. LEARNING CONTEXT The computer/web-based training is ideal for the medical professionals they will have access at home or anywhere there is internet. They will be able to prepare their presentations anywhere they chose (e.g., home, out of town, library ect.) without the help of the trainer. The medical professionals will receive the training at a classroom located in the hospital at Valley Regional Medical Center. The classroom is equipped with ten computers and comfortable chairs. Central air conditioning and heating is available.

  11. INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES Introduction: SoftChalk LessonBuilder 5 allows you to create a unified, polished, and professional presentation on your own. It offers many features and capabilities. It can be learn with the assistance of a web-based module. After completing this training, the medical professionals will be able to use SoftChalk LessonBuilder 5 to create professional e-learning resources. Downloading and installing the software: Start the Installer Start LessonBuilder Enter Your License Information Upgrading Java *Important If you have already installed the trial version of LessonBuilder, you can just enter your license information without having to run the installation again.

  12. INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES CONTINUE: Starting a new project: • Click on the Properties tab and select Style Properties. • Select a template then click OK. Entering content (text and images): • Start to input the data into the white/blank screen. • You can import images into your project. • Select the Insert tab. • Click on the select image. Adding interactive elements: • Select the Insert tab. • You have the option of adding an Activity, Quiz popper, or Hyperlink. Viewing your draft: • Select the File tab and click on Save As. Save and name the project. Click on the Preview tab to view your project.

INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES CONTINUE: Uploading the final project: • Once you have saved and named your project. • Open SSH Secure File Transfer • Select Quick Connect • Enter Host name, User name, and click on the Connect box. • Enter Authentication Response *Your password/pin for blackboard. • Click on the OK box. • Transfer your files from the right to the left screen using the mouse to drag the file. • Right click on the mouse and open the selected file. • Click on Properties and obtain you URL. • Open the Internet and past the URL on the search engine. • Click Enter and View your project. • Copy and paste the URL into Blackboard under Submit Projects. * If you upload the project correctly an exclamation mark will appear into your Grade book.

  14. INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES CONTINUE: Assessment: The medical staff (trainees) will develop their own web-based project with no help from the instructor.

  15. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES The medical staff (trainees) will need the following: A computer with internet access. The SoftChalk LessonBuilder 5 software and training manual. Paper and pencil to jot-down notes. Working speakers, this will enable them to listen to the audio in case they incorporate a podcast.

  17. FORMATIVE EVALUATION Strategy #1: My design plan will be evaluated by a Subject Matter Expert. An outside instructor “Mrs. Castro” she has experience performing the process and using the software covered in the training module. Strategy #2: My design plan will be evaluated by using Peer Evaluation. The peer evaluation will be performed by Mrs. Letty and Ms. Lisa who are familiarize with SoftChalk LessonBuilder 5 software. They will be required to attend the training sessions in order to make sure the training is simple to understand and user friendly.

  18. SUMMARY In conclusion, after completing the training, the medical staff will be able to create a unified, polished, and professional presentation on their own using SoftChalk LessonBuilder 5.
