  2. Question 1 • What is meant by the “shape of data”? • The “shape of data” is a sense of how data are spread out or grouped, what characteristics about the data set as a whole can be described, and what the data tell us in a global way about the population from which they are taken

Question 2 • How would you explain the difference between a bar graph and a histogram? • A bar graph displays data either vertically or horizontally and allows viewers to compare items that are displayed on the chart. A histogram is a type of bar graph that shows the categories are at equal intervals along a numeric scale and the height or length of each bar is determined by the number of data elements falling into that particular interval.

  5. Question 4 • How is a circle graph similar to a bar graph? • A circle graph and a bar graph both show items in a population and the popularity of each item and allows viewers to compare the items to one another.
