  3. METAPHORS • METAPHORS Your Text Here • If you can create a SIMILE, you can easily make it a metaphor by removing the “LIKE OR AS” • EX#1:The BULLY was a TANK. • EX#2: The POPCORN was a FIREWORK.

  4. PERSONIFICATIONS PERSONIFICATIONS • Given HUMAN QUALITIES to things that are not human. • EX#1: OBJECT: My computer HATES me EX#2: ANIMAL: The birds SANG in chorus.

  5. ALLITERATIONS ALLITERATIONS • The REPITITION of WORDS AND SOUNDS of neighboring words. • EX#1: Peter Piper Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers. • She Sells Sea Shells by the Sea Shore.

  6. OTOMATOPEIAS ONOMOTOPEIAS • Simply a word that IMITATES a SOUND. • EX:BOOM! POW! MEOW! UGHH! BEEP! SPLAT!

  7. HYPERBOLES HYPERBOLES • A hyperbole is an extreme exaggeration. • EX: I nearly died laughing. I tried a thousand times

  8. IDIOMS IDIOMS • An idiom is a statement where the meaning differs from the actual words in the place. • EX: On cloud nine.
