EERE Monthly Meeting Highlights – May 2012

The EERE monthly meeting, hosted by the C&O Digital Team on May 22, 2012, covered important updates. Drew Bittner opened with “Around the Room,” followed by staffing and transition updates by Sarah Lynch and Drew Bittner. Highlights included Assistant Secretary Danielson's Listening Tour discussions focusing on mission and vision development, and communication strategies. Moreover, John Chu was introduced as the primary social media contact. Key decisions regarding technical implementation for migration were made, and future project plans were discussed. The next meeting is scheduled for June 21.

  3. C&O Staffing Update • New interns – Justin and Asia • New PMFs – en route • Staff changes • John Chu now our social media POC and liaison to PA • Erin Pierce now in PA full time (not C&O) • Liz Meckes has left DOE

  4. Transition Team Update • The EERE web team met last week and reviewed status of several parts of transition • Energy Savers is making progress • Several sites and subsites were listed as eligible for migration as our next step • Work to be done prior to any technical implementation of migration/transition was identified and a project plan drafted • A preliminary draft of a “status memo” was written for Asst. Sec. Danielson

  5. Asst. Sec. Danielson's Listening Tour • Met with C&O/Strategic Programs on May 7 • Topics included: • Mission and vision- both are in development • Emphasis on communications, both internal and external • Strategy being developed • Jason Walsh will assist with communications oversight • Matt Dunne will help find pathways to achieving goals • Will review suggestion to ‘staff up’ to meet expectations • C&O: Lots of needs, lots of minute-by-minute demands, less ability to craft long-term strategy • John Chu’s notes: P:\Communications & Outreach\Strategic Programs Listening Tour - Notes\Strategic Programs Listening Tour Notes_5_7_2012.docx

  6. Communication Standards Tip This week, we have two small updates! First: John Chu is now the primary contact for all social media questions on EERE.   7. Communication Standards Tip Secondly, we have a minor update to the Testing Suite: www.eere.energy.gov/communicationstandards/testing.html There are no major changes, but we clarified how we’re handling Firefox and Chrome.
