  6. Ancient China 中國古代 張衡(78~139 AD) 漢朝人，對天文學(渾天儀)、數學(圓周率3.162)和地震學(候風地動儀)都有傑出貢獻。 張衡‧渾天儀

  7. 高峰期 元代(1297～1368 AD)： 郭守敬將複雜的觀測渾器簡化成簡儀，另設計建造仰儀、玲瓏儀、正方案等重要天文觀測儀器。進行第二次大規模的天文大地測量，為我國古代天文學工作的第二次全面檢校。於實測基礎上編制《授時曆》，為我國古曆的最高成就。 簡儀 郭守敬(1231~1316 AD) 不但是傑出的天文學家，也是水利學家和機械製造專家。簡化複雜難用的舊式渾儀，製成精度高而結構簡單的簡儀。主導我國古代第二次全國性天文大地觀測，據以編成《授時曆》，為我國古曆法最高成就。
