Automation has several benefits, including better efficiency and productivity, higher speeds, better quality, improved performance, and much more. Difference between Automation and Robotics While industrial automation and robotics go hand in hand, they are not the same. Automation refers to the implementation of self-operating machinery, software, and other technology for performing tasks that are usually done by humans. Automation can be done for physical as well as virtual tasks, and so, can be categorised as industrial automation and software automation, respectively. Robotics on the other hand is a subset of industrial automation, which is the area of engineering that utilises various disciplines to build, deploy, and manage programmable machines (robots) to interact with the physical world and perform tasks.
