Students should not be surprised at where they have to be Is it a BTEC deadline? Is it a revision class? A controlled assessment? Or a Final Examination? 15. Key Stage 4 Curriculum All students study and are examined in:
Mathematics
English
Science
Citizenship.
They are also taught Physical Education.
Students then have option subjects.

BTEC
Diploma in ICT
Youth Apprenticeships
Some students attend college at Chichester, Brinsbury and the Bognor Regis campus.
All Year 10 students will have 5 days work experience.
16. Controlled assessments Coursework has gone!
Students now complete controlled assessments
Subjects have 60% (English), 25% (History) or 0% (Maths)
The assessments are completed in exam style.
Some last a couple lessons, others weeks.
Attendance at these is critical.
For BTEC courses – all lessons have assignments. These are portfolios of work.
18. Exams Exams are starting soon – November 2010!
Students have deadlines for controlled assessments and / or BTEC assignments. Revision for exams.
Students need to prepare for exams.
A quiet area (NO TV), planning time, sleep and breakfast.
Avoid holidays, absence and even illness.
Planning for these events is vital.
Students will be told when exams are, in addition information pack has details as will our College website.

Students have been set a TARGET grade
Teachers will report a CURRENT grade
Teachers will suggest an ESTIMATED grade.
GCSE = A, B, C, D, E, F, G
BTEC = Distinction, Merit, Pass.
Students can ‘out-perform’ and ‘under-perform’.

24. GCSE English from 2010 Most students will complete two GCSE courses in English. These will be:
English Language
English Literature
25. English Language This will consist of three units:
Unit 1: Non-fiction texts (exam)
Unit 2: Speaking and listening (CA)
Unit 3: Understanding spoken and written texts; creative writing (CA)
26. English Literature This will consist of three units:
Unit 1: Modern texts (exam)
Unit 2: Poetry (exam)
Unit 3: Shakespeare and the English Literary Heritage (CA)
27. What will be the main differences between CA and coursework?
Titles for reading and writing tasks will be provided by the exam board.
Each Controlled Assessment task must be completed independently under strict supervision.
28. Preparation Planning has to take place under limited supervision which means that:
some preparation can be completed outside the classroom;
students can discuss ideas and receive guidance from teachers.
