IMUA is YOUR Association • Since 1948 IMUA Communities have joined together to help each other with such efforts as: • Safety Training • Mutual Aid • Legislative Advocacy • Continued Education • Information Sharing • Formed by its Members for the benefit of its Members and ultimately the citizens they serve • Our tradition of good community service continues
IMUA “Year in Review” 2013-14 Accomplishments • Continued to promote and grow the Association • Added8new Associate Members during the past year • Contacted in some manner all of our Member municipalities this year – bringing training or other informational programs to their door.
IMUA 2013-14 Accomplishments • Financial Responsibility • For the Year Ending December 31, 2013 • Total Revenues = $516,763 ($8,563 above budget) • Total Admin. & General Costs = $497,180 ($6,820 under budget) • Surplus = $19,583 ($15,383 more than the budgeted surplus) • Budget for the Year Ending December 31, 2014 • Total Revenues = $511,600 • Total Admin. & General Costs = $507,100 • Surplus = $4,500 • Net Assets as of March 31, 2014 • Cash – Illinois Funds = $499,264 • CD = $57,946 • Net Assets = $507,210 (Up $45,943 from March 31, 2013)
IMUA 2013-14 Accomplishments • Safety and Training • Safety & Training Program • 24 Illinois • 7Missouri Communities • Variety of Training Topics & Sessions • Two Contractual Trainers – Al Thorson, George Perko; Ed Cobau provides additional training to members • New and/or Planned Program Topics • Fall protection/personal protective equipment • New OSHA regulations
IMUA 2013-14 Accomplishments • Communications and Education • Individual member visits, analysis, and phone calls as needed • Electric Markets Webinar – October 2013 • RTO 101 Webinar – April 2014(Almost 30 sites took part in that opportunity) • Safety Sentinel newsletter – Designed for members to “cut, paste and copy” for their own outreach to members • E-mail alerts to Members on such topics as: • Updated IMEA & FEMA Disaster Recovery Application • NESHAP for RICE filing deadlines • EPA inspections • Changing market prices in electric and natural gas
IMUA 2013-14 Accomplishments • Communications and Education continued • The IMUA ListServto post Q&As amongst members • IMUA Update – Comes out every other Monday to alert members to meetings, Webinars and other information
IMUA Accomplishments 2013-14 • Legislative Advocacy • 50 IMUA Representatives Attended APPA’s Legislative Rally in March • Discussed with Legislators: • Tax-Exempt Financing • NSPS for Existing Units • Cyber and Physical Security • State Issues (Doc will discuss in detail later): • Petcoke/coal enclosure regulation • Carbon Tax • Training Liability Exposure • Customer Choice Mandate • Follow the Action on the Web at the IMUA’s “Legislative Watch” Page • Updated Daily when the GA is in session • Great tool to update local officials as the session evolves
IMUA In 2014-15 • Goals • Extend services to all current members engaged in regular training opportunities • New Member Goals: • One Full Member • One Associate • Two new communities attending regular safety training sessions • Educational Sessions in Development: • RTO Markets 201 • Net metering/PURPA requirements • Overview of newly implemented state and federal laws and their influence on Illinois municipal utilities
