  3. WORK GROUPS ARE NOT TEAMS

  4. It’s a Work Group When……… • Group members are wearing their function/personal interests. • Example: Board of Directors of a large physician practice group.

  5. Structuring Work Groups: • Size and composition depends on business objectives. • If you can’t find a reason to exclude, then include.

  6. Teams are Not Work Groups:

  8. Specific Goals and All Group Members Accept Accountability: we succeed or fail together.

  9. Team Culture: We Are “Different” “Special”

  10. Reward System: We Rise or Fall Together

  11. Board Members Paid Individually for Meetings are Not a Team vs. Paid in Shares.

  12. Freedom to Expel Individuals Who Drag Team Down:

  13. “Citizenship” is Honored: sacrifice individual (function) interests for the Team.

Growth Without Destruction of Greatness Teams keep flame of insurgency glowing while…. • Core organization able to focus on growth, consistency of operations, and managing to Key Performance Indicators. • Example: XYX Law Firm KPI=Law Firm Profitability per Partner. • Example: ABC Resorts KPI=Room Occupancy Percentage.
