  1. Total Place Insight, Mapping & Partnership approach Strategic Housing: Case Study 1 KLOE 1.1 The Theme To look at how a ‘whole area’ approach to public services in a local area can lead to better services at less cost The Facts The Journey • The Outcomes • Total Place is a government initiative through which 13 pilot areas are looking at how a ‘whole area’ approach to public services in a local area can lead to better services at less cost. • In Durham the focus of our work has been on ‘housing in relation to regeneration’ because we see a high quality, improved housing offer as fundamental to our ambition to regenerate parts of the county. Mapping the Money – exercise to map high level local public spending and a deep dive analysis in relation to housing and regeneration spend Customer Insight – review of existing evidence of residents’ and customers’ views, public perceptions of quality of place and public profile data Change - the Durham pilot looked at a new collaborative way of working with developers and housing providers via a number of business cases: • £18 – 30million potential indicative savings identified in Durham • Up to £475 million nationally in relation to Energy Efficiency For further information please contact anne.smith@durham.gov.uk
