  1. And & but.  • And: used to connect words of the same part of speech, clauses, or sentences that are to be taken jointly. • But: used to introduce something contrasting with what has already been mentioned

How use and & but • The usage of AND is when you are adding onto a sentence or combining two sentences together. • The way to NOT use AND is to start a sentence, which would have the sentence not correct. • The usage of BUT is to compare two things in a sentence. • The way to NOT use BUT is to start a sentence or change a tone of a story.

  3. Example of and & but • I played soccer and cross-country in high school. • Many people like pizza hut, panda express, and chic fil a.  I have language barrier, but I still get good grade.  I like college life, but I do not like academic.
