  1. INB & Technology Mrs. Szymanski

  2. Technology and My Classroom We use technology in my room when it supports the curriculum I will provide any iPads or computers that are needed to complete in class work You do not need to have a cell phone, iPad, home computer, etc to be successful in my class. I will make sure you have access to what you need.

  3. Phone Use Phone use is NOT ALLOWED in my classroom unless I give permission to the entire class. Phones are only used for: • Music to listen to while studying • Researching if our reserved technology isn’t working • Taking pictures/short videos of experiments at my request (not on your own!) Phones must be turned off – no exceptions! • I will give a warning if I hear a phone ring or vibrate • I will take any phones that I hear ring or vibrate after that warning • Phones will be turned into the office during my lunch and/or planning periods • You are responsible for paying for the fine to get it back I would strongly suggest you leave your phone in your locker.

  4. Web Assignments You can expect to have an assignment that will be completed online at least once per month. You will be given your own username and password If you don’t have a computer at home, you can use the computer lab during Corral time. • You will be given PLENTY of time to complete this assignment (usually 1 week). • Once the due date has passed, you will be unable to turn it in and it becomes a zero

  5. iPads & Computers • You are not to take photos or videos with the iPads unless it is part of our assignment • I go through the photos at the end of the day and discipline those who have not followed directions • iPads and Computers are not used to check social media accounts, instant messaging, etc. • Research and work only • Any serious misuse of electronic equipment will be reported as vandalism of school property and be immediately reported to our Assistant Principal

  6. My Webpage • My webpage is updated often (almost daily), so don’t forget to use it • Go to the GMS homepage, click on my name, and there you are.

  7. Websites That I use QuizStar StemScopes You will get your username and passwords for these sites on the first day we use them We will be in the computer lab together so I can make sure you are all able to log in without problems

  8. Homework Rubric • Put into your binder • There will be an extra copy on my webpage • All homework and class work will be graded using this rubric • This includes the In & Out sheets

  9. INB Everyone is expected to have a separate science binder for class. This can be brought home or kept here – its yours. On the test, however, it’s the only thing you can use for those last 10 minutes. • You CANNOT use a binder where you keep all of your papers • No binder = no looking up anything.

  10. INB Set Up How you set it up is entirely up to you. If you find it hard to get started with organizing binders, I’ll have a Corral Time for that. Some suggestions: • Chronological order (in date order) • Section it off (notes, tests, grading period, etc.)

  11. Bad Organization in INB Looks like: • Loose papers • I will hole punch all of your papers before giving them out. If not, I have a hole punch in the room. Use those metal rings to hold on to those possible test answers! • No pattern in how you are keeping it organized • You should be able to find ANY paper within a minute • No extra “stuff” • Keep extra notebook paper, a pencil/pen pouch • I only have so much “stuff” and depending on your classmates, I may run out quickly (I ran out by November last year).
