  1. JKF Assassination: Did the Cubans do it?! By: Nura Gouda, Kelly Simkins, Anna Gabriel, Laura Riemer, and Michael Miller

  2. Statement of The Theory • Fidel Castro ordered the assassination of Kennedy for vengeance upon the CIA's previous attempts to assassinate him.

  3. Motivation • Since Kennedy tried to assassinate Castro first, Castro decided he wanted to repay the honor and choose to assassinate Kennedy. • It was described as being a race to see who could “kill” each other first, and Castro won.

  4. Evidence • Oswald was arrested for hanging out wih pro Castro Learlets in New Orleans during his time. • Shortly after Oswald spoke out in a radio interview and later in a debate, he unabashedly defended the Cuban leader and his Marxist beliefs.

Lee Harvey Oswald and Cuba • September 27, 1963 - He went to Mexico to the Cuban Embassy to get a visa to go to Cuba than the Soviet Union • Aiding and supporting the Cuban Revolution • Handed out Fair Play for Cuba leaflets with the address of the building where the office of ex-FBI agent, Guy Banister, who was involved in anti-Castro and intelligence activites

Evidence • Just seven weeks before the assassination, Oswald took a trip to Mexico City to visit the Soviet Embassy. • According to Latell, Oswald went to the Cuban Embassy in an attempt to gain access to Cuba, “to fight in the mountains with Fidel.” Oswald allegedly left the Cuban Consulate yelling, “I’m Going to kill Kennedy.”

  7. Background on . • Childhood: • Fatherless upbringing • Oswald had always been off. He grew up as a misfit and was described as having no moral guidance or control. • His brother had said that even as a child he became only watched the TV shows about espionage. • Adulthood: • Very high crime record • Had been to jail many times • Wife, Marina Oswald, said that Lee only had anger for others on account of his failures, and an inflated ego, which she think came from his lact of education, but learning of the Russian language.

Background on . • What people said about Lee: • “People were like cardboard to Lee” – One of his childhood friends Micheal Paine. • “I was surprised when he hadn’t killed me right then as I was talking to him”- A General • What Lee said about other people: • “Poor dumb cop”- after the killing of a cop • “American’s are so spoiled..” – after the attempt in murdering General Walker

  9. MORE SHOCKING FACTS • A friend of Lee’s had said he was a proud owner of the books, Das Kapital and the Communist Manifesto. ALSO..

  10. Mr. Oswald Evidence • Marina Oswald, Lee’s wife, had an ex-boyfriend who researchers said looked startlingly similar to JFK.

Fidel Castro • Hated Nixon • Communist • Thought U.S. Government was guilty of sabotage when a French vessel, Le Coubre, exploded • Exports/Imports to Cuba were prohibited • CIA tried to overthrow him • Supported the Fair Play for Cuba Committee • Bay of Pigs • Soviets put nuclear missiles in Cuba

  12. Conclusion • The Cuban Leader wanted revenge: Tit-for-tat • Oswald collaborated with the Cuban leader, and clearly showed whose side he was on (incidents at New Orleans, on Radio, at Cuban Embassy). • Castro’s support for the Soviets, and his disparaging comments about US government.
