  7. To Bomb or not to bomb? Question: What were our other options besides bombing Japan? Answer: • A massive invasion of Japan • A naval blockade along with continued conventional bombing • Drop an atomic bomb on a nearby island and tell Japan they’re next if they don’t stop

  15. Craziness After we dropped the bomb on Hiroshima, the Japanese sent an appraisal team into the city right afterwards, and they found out that we had used an atomic weapon there. They felt sure that it was the only atomic weapon we had. In fact, they felt that they shouldn’t worry about the US dropping anymore atomic bombs because it was so incredibly difficult to make this weapon. But when we dropped the second one, they realized that we might have had an unlimited supply of bombs. That’s why they decided to surrender.
